Thursday May 21, 2020 – What next?

All my life I had planned out every step in my head..always! The education I needed, the grades I required, the classes to take and attend, the effort needed and the risks to be taken and yeah low and behold! I am here!

Even as I type this reflection I have a vague idea how I want my life to be. What to do next? Exams? Fellowships? Marriage? Move into another place? My job position? My goals to be ticked off.. but something just messed it up. COVID 19!

Everyone has had the same issue I am sure. From students to corporations, from housewives to daily wage laborers. Suddenly we are left in a lurch that certainty of knowing and looking forward to something is gone!

Today as Jesus ascended into heaven I am sure the disciples felt the same uneasiness… “what next?” so He helped them… like always !

“All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

He gave them a goal and made them a promise! The goal to teach everyone about His kingdom and help people come to Him for salvation and eternal life, with a promise of being with us ALWAYS!

It applies to us today, as we are waking up each day puzzled and unsure about what it holds for us. We just need one goal : JESUS and remember His promise and keep the faith! Yes, every now and then it gets hard to get ourselves to crack that bible and say a rosary ( happens to me!) but we do get points for effort with Jesus and Mother Mary. It seems so impossible right now to even imagine what and how we will meet our families, have a future.

All we need is to look up to the Lord , the goal and remember the promise!

Prayer: Forgive me Lord for being selfish and unhappy about these hard times. Help me Lord to uplift my issues and concerns to you in prayer and keep the faith constant even when in doubt. Amen
