Wednesday, July 26, The seed is the word of God,

The Holy Spirit inspired our blog.

The seed is the word of God, Christ is the sower;

All who come to him will live forever.

Alleluia Refrain

A summary of the readings;

The first reading talks about God feeding the children of Israel in the desert with Bread from Heaven, then providing Quail as meat for them. The Jewish people complained before being fed and later complained after being fed.

The responsorial Psalm builds on God feeding the children of Israel, the response being The Lord gave them bread from heaven. Psalm 78.

The Gospel reading is about seeds being spread on different types of ground, with the seed being spread on good ground yielding a hundred, sixty, or thirtyfold.

Today is the Memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, Parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary

and their seed, of course, would result in the birth of the Virgin Mary.

How about you and I? Do we allow God’s word, Jesus, to come into our life, and then do we grow that word by reflecting Jesus in our actions?

If we do, we are a reflection of Jesus, and the good ground is our Love, Joy, and Peace which make us stand out in a world filled with anger, lust, depression, and greed.

What an exciting and wonderful opportunity we all have every day, and as you choose God, you will find each day gets easier.

I met a person the other day who told me they were celebrating their forty-fifth wedding anniversary, and I, we, asked them if they were still on their HONEYMOON.

He looked at me like I had two heads.

We next asked, why would you leave your Honeymoon?

A Honeymoon is a chance to grow in your knowledge of your spouse, and in reality, this never stops, so why would you want to lose the Joy of discovering the wonderful person you’re married to?

Gail and I have been married for fifty-six wonderful years, and yes, we’re still on our Honeymoon, and the fascinating thing for me is our minds are working in the same thoughts many times.

Life is full of choices, I choose to be on my Honeymoon, and I choose to live in the Fruit of the Holy Spirit, and my life is filled with Love, Joy, and Peace.

What’s your choice?

If you want to join Team Jesus, try praying.   “This is the day the lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.”

Sidebar:

Ever since the Holy Spirit asked me if I wanted to stand before Jesus and tell Jesus that I hadn’t read His Book, the Bible, I, we have continued reading the Bible.

Reading the Bible has been going on for at least thirty years.

Now we read three chapters of the Old Testament, one Psalm or Proverb, and one Chapter of the New Testament in Chronological order, which means we complete the entire bible every year and have done this for the past ten-plus years.

The above is NOT an “ain’t I great” statement.

I am working harder this year to do the readings because I have hit a roadblock.  I have a choice, stop-satan, or push through with the Holy Spirit.

I am sure you know what I’m doing, pushing through with complete confidence that God will change my attitude.

The Holy Spirit recently encouraged me to buy a book from Bookbub.com, $1.99, titled Mysteries of the Messiah, by Rabbi Jason Sobel.

I first met Rabbi Jason Sobel in the book The Rock, the Road, and the Rabbi by Kathie Lee Gifford.  In that book, Jason tied the birth of Jesus to the Cross, which we discussed in our blog last year.

Rabbi Jason is also a contributor to The Chosen, and I have watched some of his explanations of what happened at the time of Jesus and enjoyed how he tied the Old and New Testaments together.

Rabbi Sobel is brilliant but writes so anyone can easily understand him.  This is a gift.

My only problem is he is giving me so much new and interesting information I have to stop reading for a while to digest what I have read.

Mysteries of the Messiah connects the Old Testament with the New Testament, which I think is a peek into what Jesus might have said to his two disciples while they walked on the road to Emmaus.

One example in my words;

  •  God created man on the sixth day, Friday.
  •  Jewish Theologians believe Adam and Eve sinned on the sixth day, Friday.
  •  Jesus died on the sixth day, Good Friday.
  •  God rested on the seventh day, Saturday.
  •  Jesus was in the earth on the seventh day, Saturday.
  •  Jesus rose on the eighth day, Sunday.
  •    A new day was established, a day of redemption for all of mankind

Wow!!

I had never tied these days together in this manner. I had always used the number of the day, not the day’s name, and this blew my mind.

We haven’t even scratched all Rabbi Sobel said about the above topic.

I will be reading this book more than once.

Once again, God is taking care of me.
