Wednesday, July 19, you have revealed them to the childlike.

The Holy Spirit inspired our blog.

At that time Jesus exclaimed:

“I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,

for although you have hidden these things

from the wise and the learned

you have revealed them to the childlike.

Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.

All things have been handed over to me by my Father.

No one knows the Son except the Father,

and no one knows the Father except the Son

and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”

Emphasis mine Mt 11:25-27

Wednesday of the Fifteenth Week in Extraordinary Time

 you have hidden these things

from the wise and the learned

you have revealed them to the childlike.

How many so-called wise people do we meet daily with no or little concept of God?

I am always amazed at how so many Baptized Catholics have stopped going to Church because of one reason or another.

We reported in an earlier blog that almost seventy percent of the Catholics in Maine fail to go to Church.

What a shame!

The reasons vary; the Priest gives a lousy homily, the music makes me want to go to sleep, the people are not welcoming, etc. We could continue typing the excuses satan has given us for a much longer paragraph.

That is not the reason one goes to church, Catholic or Protestant.

We go to Church to first acknowledge our love for the Triune God to others. Our presence in Church is in itself a powerful message.

Next, we go so we can preach the Gospel.

No, we are not talking about actual preaching but showing your love for your neighbor by supporting others in the congregation.

The biggest sin of Covid was the loss of physical contact.  I have noted that many people are willing to stay in their world and not reach out to others.

Not reaching out does not bring Joy.

As Catholics, we should want to go to Church to touch God, Jesus in the Eucharist and join in the dance with the Triune God.

Imagine You and I have the chance to touch God,  and seventy percent of Catholics blow that chance away.

The above reading states;

you have hidden these things

from the wise and the learned

you have revealed them to the childlike.

Who are you?

The wise and learned?

Or

The Childlike?

Become a child, accept God as a child, not questioning or staking out your ground rules, but truly accepting, and watch the Joy of being a child return to your life.

If you want to join Team Jesus, try praying.   “This is the day the lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.”

Sidebar:

In last week’s sidebar, we talked about Joseph and how God used Joseph to bring his Family into Egypt, where they would multiply from seventy people to over two million people in four hundred years.

After we typed last week’s blog, I thought more about not understanding what is happening in our lives today and how our actions will impact years from now.

And yet, the above statement isn’t true.

Unlike life before Jesus, the Jews had the Law but didn’t understand what happened after they died.

I am currently reading the Book of Ecclesiastes; in that book, which is thought by many to have been written by King Solomon,  King Solomon, in his later life, has thrown God under the bus. As he writes Ecclesiastes, he laments that everyone is treated the same in the end.

They die!

Rich and poor take nothing with them, which is the vanity of vanities.

The Christian, I pray, realizes the error in Solomon’s thinking.

We know the end game is eternal life filled with Love, Joy, and Peace.

And if we truly believe this, why wouldn’t we want to tell others about this amazing life here and to come?

The exciting thing is we don’t have to say words; we should be a reflection of God’s love through our Love of our Neighbor and our actions that speak louder than our words in proclaiming God’s kingdom.

Easy!

Want a Joy filled life?

Actively love God and Neighbor.

Comment;  Sarah asked if I would include all the prayers we discussed in every blog.  We decided that to be more effective, we would send all the prayers upon your request either through my email below or use the comment section of our blog.
