Wednesday, January 17, 2024, and grieved at their hardness of heart,

The Holy Spirit inspired our blog.

 Memorial of Saint Anthony, abbot.

Jesus entered the synagogue.

There was a man there who had a withered hand.

They watched Jesus closely

to see if he would cure him on the sabbath

so that they might accuse him.

He said to the man with the withered hand,

“Come up here before us.”

Then he said to the Pharisees,

“Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath rather than to do evil,

to save life rather than to destroy it?”

But they remained silent.

Looking around at them with anger

and grieved at their hardness of heart,

Jesus said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.”

He stretched it out and his hand was restored.

The Pharisees went out and immediately took counsel

with the Herodians against him to put him to death.

Mark 3: 1-6

A week and a half ago, I received three emails I couldn’t wait to discuss.  In fact, I thought we would skip the first part of the blog and go directly to the sidebar. Then I read today’s reading, and everything fits in perfectly.

The Joy of working for and with God.

Two weeks ago, I received an email from Linda, who I had just learned had four, yes four, hip replacements.  We have written about Linda in previous blogs.  We recommended the prayers we have talked about for the past two years and told Linda to have faith that God would take care of her.

As we related, it took Linda a few weeks before she started saying the prayers we had discussed and believing they would work.  Actually, Linda was in a box.  The doctors couldn’t do anything, nor the drugs, so her last resort was God.

Well, it has been five or six months, and I received an email from Linda:

Dear Fred,

I enjoyed our chat the other day, but sometimes, when we talk, you have so much input for me that I’m not always able to recall what I’d like to share with you. It’s a kind of rapid-fire encouragement that you give.

What I forgot to share with you was that I have had healing in my feet, which don’t ache at night anymore, and in my hip, which was bothering me when I tried to sleep. I’m asking for healing in my new elbow and my arthritic shoulder. It is better now than last week when I couldn’t lift my arm. X-rays showed the shoulder is full of more arthritis, but that will be for another time. So you see, I really am fantastic! Happy and healthy New Year to you and yours.  Linda

Sent from my iPhone

I was blown away by her email; who wouldn’t be?

A few blogs ago, we wrote about men in the Jail turning their lives around through prayer.

We received eight to ten emails from people asking for a copy of the prayers they said.

We honored their request and sent them the prayers we have been talking about since the start of our writing our blog.

I received an email back from one person who said they thought the prisoners’ prayers would differ from those we discussed in our blog.

We thought about this email a lot, and I realized that what makes our blog different is we have spent twenty-seven years in the jail.  Like our blog, I turn over what we will say to the men to the Holy Spirit, and this is where I learn about God.

We are also unique because I see the change in some men’s lives if they do as we suggest.

Most don’t try what we suggest, which is true for many of our readers.

Sad, the answer to their problems is right before them, and people don’t believe they will work.

satan!

Last week, we said JOY BREAKS EVERY YOKE.  Linda ended her email, So you see I really am fantastic!   She was fantastic, and I could hear that in her voice.

A few blogs ago, we discussed the history of the thorns placed on Jesus’ head.

I received an email from my Cousin Janet in England, who said she always reads a chapter in the bible in bed before going to sleep; the chapter she was reading mentioned thorns.

God was talking to me!

I have never read the Bible in bed before I went to sleep.  I have also had years of nights getting four to five and a half hours of sleep.

The day I read her email, I decided to try reading the Bible in bed before I went to sleep.

God is talking to me through Janet’s email.

Guess what? I am sleeping better.  Five to six hours, but my sleep is more peaceful.

If you’re reading our blog, I believe God is talking to you, and if you would try the prayers we have talked about over the past two years like Linda, you would see your life change for the better, and you would say that your life is FANTASTIC!

I do believe God  grieves at the hardness of our hearts,

Join Team Jesus:

If you would like to protect your family, dumb question, pray Psalm 91 verbally.

My life changed after reading Peggy Joyce Ruth’s book, Psalm 91, God’s Shield of Protection, Military Version.  Every day, I say this powerful prayer for everyone in our life, including the writers and readers of A Catholic Moment.

Sidebar:

We are rereading Psalm 91, A Prayer of Protection Military Version, and I am more convinced of this prayer’s power.

An American unit of one hundred and fifty men is being sent over to Afghanistan, and the casualty rate is expected to be between fifty and ninety percent.

All the men agree to pray Psalm 91 every day.

Shells landed around them; some were duds, and those that exploded missed the men.

At the end of their tour of duty, ALL the men return home safely!

Every day, we say this powerful prayer for everyone in our life.  Why wouldn’t I?  If you think I listen to satan, “That won’t work,” forget it. I say the prayer because I have seen it work in my life and our family.
