Wednesday, December 13, “For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

The Holy Spirit inspired our blog.

Memorial of Saint Lucy, Virgin and Martyr

Jesus said to the crowds:

“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,

and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,

for I am meek and humble of heart;

and you will find rest for yourselves.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

Emphasis mine,  Matthew 11: 28-30

“For, my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”  I heard this statement for decades, and in my subconscious, I said to myself, “Who is Jesus kidding? I, yes, I don’t believe your yoke is easy, and your burden is light.”

I remember when the business wasn’t doing well; we were going belly up, and who did I blame?

Jesus!

Where are you?

I was praying for help, but previous to my, yes, my current difficulty, I was indifferent to God, and in fact, it was even worse; I failed to thank God for all God was doing in my, yes, my life.

I asked for help, a relationship, if you will, only when I needed God.

That’s not a relationship, especially when you abandon God after God does help you.

Maybe abandon is too strong a word, but what would you call it if someone helps you and then you go your merry way ignoring that person or God?

What was my loss?

Love, Joy, and Peace!

Only when I changed from my will to your will did I realize that “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

We suggest three relationship-building prayers this quarter if you want to join and grow in Team Jesus.

  •  Weeeeeeeee,  say this prayer every time you and God interact.  For example, Weeeeeee made a great meal, Weeeee played a good game of …, Weeeeeee didn’t handle this very well, etc.
  • Thank you, Father; say this all day, every day, for all the Father is doing in your life.  If something really good happens, say this multiple times with enthusiasm.  When I was told my Basal Cell had disappeared, I said the Thank You prayer at least fifty times as I walked out of the doctor’s office.
  • I’m Fantastic;  anytime anyone asks how you are, tell them you are Fantastic.  I believe you are who you say you are. You have every reason to be Fantastic and no reason not to be. If you can’t think of a reason to be Fantastic, thank God for the difficulty, and God will provide you with the reasons.

Last health update:

I went to see Dr. Verlee, my Urologist, for a three-month follow-up, and we are writing this for all the men who read our blog because eighty percent of you will have, before age eighty, an enlarged prostate.  After the HoLEP surgery, a biopsy indicated  I had Prostate Cancer.

I told Dr. VerLee I would pray for a healing.  Three months later, I had a PSA test, and when I saw Dr. VerLee for the follow-up, the PSA test results were .24, which he said indicated I was just as good as clean.  Your Prayers and the operation had removed all of the cancerous tissue.

All of your prayers and more were answered, and because I now include God in every aspect of my, now our life  “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

We will keep relaying information I have gleaned from Mysteries of The Messiah by Rabbi Jason Sobel.

Why?

Because I believe many Catholics have never thoroughly read the Bible, and when they do, they don’t see the connection between the Old and New Testaments.

For example, what is the meaning of why was Jesus crowned with Thorns?

Beginning in Genesis 3, thorns are associated with hardship, suffering, and exile, which God told Adam and Eve they would encounter after the fall.

God appeared to Moses from a Burning Bush, which the Jewish Rabbis claimed was a lowly Thorn Bush.

Why a Thornbush?

God wanted to show the Jewish people that God was attuned to their pain and suffering.

Jesus had a Crown of Thorns placed on His Head to identify how much He was willing to deal with Human suffering and pain so He could set us free from sin and death.

I don’t know about you, but I had never made these connections before I read Rabbi Sobel’s book.

Thought for the day from NRSV The C.S. Lewis Bible:

I am often praying for others when I should be doing things for them. It’s so much easier to pray for a bore than to go see him.

I absolutely love this quote; it is so true.

Christmas is near, and if you are looking for something of value to give, consider any one of the three books we have written.

A Journey with the Holy Spirit – Revised Edition – My story of finding life in “The Spirit World” and prayers I learned in the Cumberland County Jail that helped me grow in my Relationship with God.

I Believe – Revised Edition – In thinking about the Nicene Creed I, we, felt the current prayer leaves a lot of important information out.  For example, the Father and Son sending the Holy Spirit to be infused in our souls at Baptism is not mentioned.

God Thoughts 2022 – All blogs written in 2021 (4) and 2022.  It comes in Color, and Black and white.  I prefer the color edition because of the beautiful pictures you sent us.

All books are available through Amazon; type the book title and my name in the search bar.  Amazon books are available as ebooks and paperbacks.

A Journey with The Holy Spirit – Revised Edition and I Believe – Revised Edition is also available at Barnes and Noble as a Hard Cover book with a jacket.  Once again, type the book name and my name to find the book.
