Wednesday in the Octave of Easter
Jesus has Risen!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
That very day, the first day of the week,
two of Jesus’ disciples were going
to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus,
and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred.
And it happened that while they were conversing and debating,
Jesus himself drew near and walked with them,
but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him.
He asked them,
“What are you discussing as you walk along?”
They stopped, looking downcast.
One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply,
“Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem
who does not know of the things
that have taken place there in these days?”
And he replied to them, “What sort of things?”
They said to him,
“The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene,
who was a prophet mighty in deed and word
before God and all the people,
how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over
to a sentence of death and crucified him.
But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel;
and besides all this,
it is now the third day since this took place.
Some women from our group, however, have astounded us:
they were at the tomb early in the morning
and did not find his Body;
they came back and reported
that they had indeed seen a vision of angels
who announced that he was alive.
Then some of those with us went to the tomb
and found things just as the women had described,
but him they did not see.”
And he said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are!
How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke!
Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things
and enter into his glory?”
Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets,
he interpreted to them what referred to him
in all the Scriptures.
As they approached the village to which they were going,
he gave the impression that he was going on farther.
But they urged him, “Stay with us,
for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.”
So he went in to stay with them.
And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing,
broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,
but he vanished from their sight.
Then they said to each other,
“Were not our hearts burning within us
while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?”
So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem
where they found gathered together
the Eleven and those with them who were saying,
“The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!”
Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way
and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread. Emphasis mine Luke 24: 13-35
“Oh, how foolish you are! Is a statement that was true two thousand years ago and sadly today.
The reason is satan, we would rather believe the lies satan tells us than believe what we have seen and read.
If you have read the Bible the stories about God in the Old Testament and the New Testament are just so off the wall that they are either true or false.
Imagine, parting the Red Sea so the Jewish people could pass through on dry land, the Jewish people walked for forty years while being fed, and their clothing did not wear out, Danial was put in a lion’s den with Lions that hadn’t been fed, and walked out.
In the New Testament we have the Son of God, coming down as a Baby, depending on the loving care of Mary and Joseph, two nobodies, working for thirty years as a carpenter, and spending three and half years proclaiming the Kingdom of God was at hand, leaving no formal organization or instruction book, and being Crucified as a common criminal, and then rising from the dead.
In our blog, we have talked about the change in your life that will occur IF you pray every day for an increase of Love, Joy, and Peace.
“Oh, how foolish you are! If you don’t.
Our religion is built on stories no human has ever considered before Jesus, and yet we are, and that includes me, so quick to say, that can’t be true, or it wouldn’t work, or tomorrow, the biggest kiss of death.
The Holy Spirit just reminded me that Dad got up, shaved, got dressed, came down and ate breakfast, put his head down, and went home to Jesus, filled with Peace.
Don’t be foolish, learn the “Nine,” and pray the “Nine” every day and enJoy the change in your life.
Prayer:
If you want to grow in Love, Joy, and Peace this is a result of growth in Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Kindness, and Self-Control.
Sidebar:
We reported a few blogs ago that our primary job while we are here on earth is the promotion of the Kingdom of God. I have taken this to heart and since my life changed irrevocably when I prayed and learned the Nine Fruit of The Holy Spirit, and wrote a book about my change, The Holy Spirit suggested that since I knew what my job is we should design a calling card with the Nine Fruit of the Holy Spirit on one side God is Love on the other.
If you are praying the Nine Fruit of The Holy Spirit and have seen a change, we also thought you might be interested in doing something similar. There are two choices.
- Send me an email and I will send you my address, and then send me a stamped return address envelope, and I will send you 10 calling cards that you see above.
- I went to www.vistaprint.com, and designed the above card. You can do the same, even change it to reflect your personality.
- There is software available to print your own cards.
I have passed out hundreds of cards and when I ask a stranger if they would like more Joy and Peace in their lives NO ONE and I mean NO ONE has said no.
If you have watched The Chosen season 4, episode 1, I think you see the Disciples going out and starting to Preach and Heal people, and how awkward they are at first. I experienced the same thing, but now I am comfortable doing this. In fact, I enJoy doing this. Just maybe someone like you and me will also try praying this simple yet powerful prayer, and their lives will be changed like yours because you asked.
I just learned this: Dr. Tim Gray, The Formed 4/16/25 said the reason Jesus didn’t give the address of where the Last Supper would be held was Jesus didn’t want Judas to know and send the Jewish guards to arrest Jesus before the end of the Last Supper. Judas knew where Jesus would go after the Last Supper. The man with the jar on his shoulder led only Peter and John to the last supper location, and they set up the meal.

Hi Fred! I love reading your blog! I am an airline pilot and am lucky to attend Mass in different cities. Today, I was in Kansas City, and the other pilot and I went to Noon Mass for the Feast of the Presentation of our Lord. Kind of a mini Easter Vigil in the Lay People entering with candles, use of incense, and the most incredible cantor chanting in Latin… Anyway, I could not believe the miracle I witnessed: From the very beginning of the Liturgy of the Eucharist until after Mass, when they exposed the Host for Adoration, rays of light emanated from the stained glass window and shone upon the altar the entire time! Fred, had there been no incense, I wouldn’t have seen the rays of light. Cloud cover, different seating position, time of day, angle of the sun all had to be PERFECT!! Picture by Frank from Ohio
As we mentioned last year we will use Frank’s picture every Wednesday after Easter.
