Thursday, April 23rd

Remember when you were a kid and your mother, father or some other adult said, “You have to hold my hand when you cross a busy street.” The high energy child in all of us wanted to run ahead. Those voices are still in my head.

Now don’t get me wrong I am not hearing actual voices but the memory of those voices. In Acts in our first reading, Peter had a voice in his head when he says “We must obey God rather than men”. We are all a product of what God had done in our lives. We miss Church, not because of a rule that we have to go there but because we hear the voice of the Holy Spirit in the sermon and the love we give and receive from our fellow church members who are the body of Christ.

In our Gospel reading today John speaks of the Holy Spirit in this way. He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. Whoever does accept his testimony certifies that God is trustworthy. For the one whom God sent speaks the words of God. He does not ration his gift of the Spirit.

Never deny God. He is trustworthy and His gifts are boundless. The Spirit does not ration. He give freely.

Just like Peter we must obey God and listen to that voice that says to hold the Holy Spirit’s hand in this time of crisis. Remember today that God does not ration His gifts

Those of you who are a fan of Dan McFeeley , including myself, will be happy to know that he will be back next week.

God Love you Always
