If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets,
neither will they be persuaded
if someone should rise from the dead.’

This is an extremely morbid way to explain and give us a warning to the dire consequences that will follow our actions but it is worth it. It is getting challenging just reaching a sunday mass with my work hours and schedule but those 40 minutes make me happy and energize me through the week.

Yes ! I have fallen away from the wonderful list of promises for Lent 2023 more than many times but I realised I was doing them with more ulterior purposes than I cared for.

While I keep getting weekly reminders about how I should be a better person at church and when I post, I often love to see my patients get through their lives.

So this lent let us not pray for ghosts of Lent past but make an effort to clear my prayer life and work hard.

Hello! I’m Dr Analise Maria D’ Mello, (MBBS, MS obgyn, DNB) from the beautiful state of Goa in India. I was born and raised in a Roman Catholic family, learning my prayers, catechism and Catholic values from my parents and grandmothers. I often speak on anti-abortion to college students and married couples, and counsel distressed pregnant women with appropriate medical advice. I am part of the St Luke's Medical Guild of Catholic Doctors in my state providing services in prisons, and Lenten and advent retreats for medical professionals and their families.

  1. With Jesus at the centre of our lives we can care for others. He is with us when we are busy and we can pray to him at any time of the day even if it is only for a few minutes.

  2. Your work is your prayer when you do it with love for Jesus. And any resolution which doesn’t get broken from time to time probably isn’t much of a stretch.

  3. Thank you Analise. We encourage you to stay focused on your prayer life and the goodness you bring to others in your work and your reflections here at the Catholic Moment. May this Lent bring you growth in faith and understanding of how Jesus uses you for His will. Peace my sister.

  4. Thank you Analise. When I was a practicing oncology nurse I was not in the faith, but looking back I regret some things I could have done with more love and compassion. I know now that each of those people with their woundedness and pain was Jesus in disguise. Thinking of them in that way when they are in distress is a prayer in itself. God bless your good work and everyone this Lent!

  5. I always love your sweet and simple message—one I can relate to quite well.
    Thank you and God Bless

  6. Thanks Annalise. I can only imagine your daily stresses. Yet, you find time to share your reflection in this forum. God is working in you everyday in your interactions with everyone you meet. God bless you always! As for the gospel, this is actually one of my favourites… very profound. In fact, Jesus did come from the dead!!! And if anyone still doesn’t believe in Him…we know what happens! Jesus, help us with our unbelief!

  7. Thank you Dr Analise! We all have a Mission in life. And that mission can change as there are seasons for things, there are seasons for us. My mother lived to be 96 1/2 y.o.
She had 12 children. In young years with all those kids she offered up her day in the morning. At middle age she could get up before my Dad left for work and attend daily Mass. At retirement age my parents helped build a church. In older age she visited the sick and took Communion. In even Older age she started a Prayer Army on Facebook for our family to pray for others. Always the Trinity, Mother Mary, St Terese of Liseux as her guide. So God uses us right where we are.
Analise, you are following God’s plan, thank you!
