When a strong man fully armed guards his palace,
his possessions are safe.
But when one stronger than he attacks and overcomes him,
he takes away the armor on which he relied
and distributes the spoils.
Whoever is not with me is against me,
and whoever does not gather with me scatters.”

In India , it is very common to be attacked as a doctor. An angry mob comes towards us, our reflex is to run away Asap! It has caused injuries to numerous doctors and yet nothing such has been done for our safety./

I have had patients and family walk in and yell at me for random reasons, maybe awaiting the long queues frustrates them, some when we break bad news or deaths . It has become a routine , so much so , we have a system with security guards and there are viral videos of doctors then beating up the family back with BP machines ..

When I read todays Gospel , I could feel the might of the Lord through His words and feel secure.. I know I am not even close to following His commands and the only consistent thing this lent is my prayer every morning with Hallow app about life of a Jesuit priest Fr Walter Kiesza and how I should surrender and persevere to the Lord.

I wonder how we let our selves dictate our lives and decisions . . very hard to follow the Lord and His commandments. But we are here during Lent to surrender ourselves to the Lord and work harder than ever!

This Lent and everyday , let us be assured , the army of the Lord is there to watch over us .. everyday!

  1. May God bless you and keep you safe. I live in the USA where doctors are generally respected. I had no idea they experienced such terrible treatment in India! May God bless all doctors in India and throughout the world.

  2. I too am very surprised and saddened by how you describe doctor’s being beaten in India. I even admire you more! May God bless you and keep you safe. Jesus, I trust in you

  4. Hi Annalise.
I work in health care as a nurse in Canada. I am sorry that doctors are treated poorly in your Country. I have a lot of Indian families that come into my clinic with their newborn babies and they are very friendly and appreciative. I feel sad that it can’t be that way in India too.
