Thursday , 4th February 2021 — finding Him!

In a conversation with a non christian seven year old boy, I happened to ask him, what is heaven to him, he responded “clouds” and when I probed further he said , ” where God lives!”.. His 6 year old sister, instantly defied it with a vehement head shake, ” No!! God lives inside us!” she emphasized with a finger pointing to her chest.

While I was fascinated with the ideology, we all grow up with different opinions, most formed by what we hear read or watch in our forming years from 3 to 9 years of age. While I was growing up with parents who sent me to sunday catechism classes, where I learnt God was omnipresent and created us to love him, serve him and be his children was a patent reply to all the questions asked by the teacher.

Over the years, God has been in church, in a cross, in the Bible and Eucharist! But as I age, I notice God much more.. HE is there in my mothers arms hugging me when I am home, my fathers blessings after rosary every night, my elder brothers rebuke at something I did wrong, my friends face lighting up when she sees me and my teachers who teach me not just work but how to treat a human !!

I looked for God in my patients who smiled as they walked in with an aching belly and imagined Mother Mary come by alone and then saw God when they smiled when I showed the new born .. He is there in next to us when we operate and I often try to say a prayer when I scrub up for my surgeries… I take those few minutes to focus my mind on my case and the surgery and then say a short prayer for the patient, because yes God is there!! HE is everywhere… Yet he sent his disciples to spread the teachings and be his ministers.. He entrusted the job onto them with so many conditions..

So they went off and preached repentance.
The Twelve drove out many demons,
and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

Today as we go to spread His word, let us see Him in every one we work and live with! It is hard when we do not agree but like the little girl said

” God lives with in us” … every one of us… good or bad!!

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, help me see you in every person. Help me be better every day and find you in every person. Amen.

  3. Thank you Analise. Your words are what I needed this morning. It is easy to think God has abandoned us in times of difficulty. But you reminded me He lives in everyone around us in a peculiar way.

  4. Analise,
Your commentary brought me to tears. I often wonder whether or not I’m doing God’s call as my life seems so insignificant. Your words have reminded me how God is present in our lives. When I’m thinking that I’m not doing much in my daily routines, I have offended God as I failed to see Him in all that God has given me.
May you continue to seek out the Lord’s blessings on your work.

  5. Analise,
Your commentary brought me to tears. I often wonder whether or not I’m doing God’s will as my life seems so insignificant. Your words have reminded me that God is present in all that he has given me. To not see His presence and fail to recognize my worth and works on His eyes must grieve Him greatly. Lord, open the eyes of my heart.
Analise, I pray for continued blessings on your vocation.

  6. Thank you Analise for an inspiring reflection. I just wish all doctors say a prayer before perdorming any procedure. Yes, it is often difficult to see God in the midst of our trials…but let us try to see God in us before we see Him in others. God is in each one of us indeed!!!

  7. Amen Analise, I loved your reflection. Reminding me of His presence and indeed His presence in others. Thank you.
    Peace and harmony……….
