“The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea,
which collects fish of every kind.
When it is full they haul it ashore
and sit down to put what is good into buckets.
What is bad they throw away.
Thus it will be at the end of the age.

The months after my dad was operated and started on chemotherapy, we ensured he was couped home with home cooked meals and everyone at his beck and call. For someone who has been independent almost all his life, my dad wasnt keen on this system continuing after he regained his weight and strength! So the months after, as I prepared for exams and worked, my additional duty would be to drive my dad to and fro the fish market.

As a goan, we love fish! My state is known world over for its beaches and as a coastal native, fish and coconut are vital ingredients of my life! While my dad is a pro at picking fresh fish and bargaining the price and was loyal customer to some vendors too. The art of picking fish , how to check the gills, how to determine the best price for the said fish and finally walking away like a champ with the best offer ! I watched and learnt from my father.

While the Lord describes the Judgement day like how my dad picks the good edible fresh fish from the lot. I envisage our end too. While most of us dont think so far ahead into the future, we should realise , that daily habits form the necessary part of leading us into a long and blessed life!

I am no stranger to zero motivation and extremely bad habits of life, but I also now that complete commitment to the Lord on a daily basis will help us focus on what is right and eventually give us a chance to be picked like fresh fish! Daily prayer, being honest and loving thy neighbors! All said and done, the task is not so easy. Some day we fall sick , we go astray but when we realise our mistakes we return to the Lord!

Today let us all imagine the judgment day and check we are worthy to be received by Christ and if not work daily to be better humans.

Amen.
