This lent I begin with a lofty list of prayers for a person everyday, 2 weeks into lent I forgot about it and got busy with work, family and studies and absolutely fell off track! I felt guilty when I was craving my moms favourite chicken dish!

Today the people in the first reading vowed to follow the covenant and the Lord of Moses however, soon they built idols and started worshipping them! complete deviation from the promise !

So when God on the behest of Moses refrained from punishment and accepted their apology, I know I can still re start my lenten practise through prayer and fasting!

So if any of you have eaten that chicken burger on a friday or skipped a rosary for a work meeting — dont fret ! just restart all over again! Our loving God is like the father running towards us the prodigal children .. to embrace us in his arms and protect us!

So run Forest ! Run!!

PRAYER:

As I return to my Lenten promises oh lord, help me realise why I want to get into this relationship with you! Help me come closer to you oh Lord and begin a fresh!

AMEN

  2. After reading your post I don’t feel guilty. I needed a gin so badly since starting lent without alcohol one day after a really busy and stressful day and had a gin to relax. I felt terrible and weak. However, I can restart again and know that the Lord loves unconditionally and am not judged. Thank you Analise. You always never fail to remind us that we are only human. Cheers

  3. Thanks Dr. Analise. My Lenten journey is to stay calm in all my work stresses and not be reactive when bombarded with requests and asking my plan and solutions to problem that continue to mount. I’m a nurse in a very large pharmacy company and like most health care, dreadfully short staffed. However, Jesus is working besides me daily. Helps me pull solutions to problems out of my hat. Glory goes to him. I get tired of these 12-14 HR days. He sustains me. No reason to be reactive or worry or fear because He has my back. Yesterday, the fear crept back in. But, I begin a new day. Bless you

  4. Thank you Analise. His forgiveness is beyond our understanding. Lent is about a new beginning. Continue, reset, or do over our lenten promises. His mercy is unstoppable and unmeasureable. Pray on for His will. Peace my sister.

  5. Analise, I just love to read your reflections each week! Thank you for taking the time out to share your thoughts and prayers with us.
    May God bless you!

  6. Thank you, Annalise. Lent is a time to try to give up the bad habits that distract us or start new habits to bring us closer. He understands our struggles and doesn’t expect perfection. If it were easy, it wouldn’t be much of a sacrifice. In times of weakness I try to remember how He suffered for me and that often gives me the strength I need—but not always. And so today I start again.

  7. I too got off track with my Lenten practice and got back on!! Life always seems to get in the way of committing sometimes! Carry on!! 🙏🏼 for you and all who also have this difficulties in their lives. God Bless! 🌹

Thank you for reminding us that our God is an awesome forgiving God, ready to accept us back when we run home to His arms!

  9. At the halfway point in Lent it’s very easy to let our good intentions slip.Perseverance is key.Thank you Lord for waiting patiently and forgiving our weaknesses.
God Bless you Analise and for continuing to share your faith journey with us.🙏🏻

  10. So many many times I have wandered away from our Lord’s grasp of my hand. It’s not that He let go; I let go of Him! But He’s always been there ready to accept my apology and lead me back. Thanks for reminding me of that.
