Better for you to enter into the Kingdom of God with one eye
than with two eyes to be thrown into Gehenna,
where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.

as an oncosurgeon , we remove cancer by surgery. I have held cancer in my hands and removed it out of the body! a tumor of cancerous cells infiltrating into various organs of the body especially the female reprductive organs … I have held the BIG C and removed it and flung it ( not literally) into a container to be sent into the pathology lab for testing and evaluating!

I have seen cancer shrink with chemotherapy , prayers or stay stable with no scientific explanation! Everyday I am able to encounter and visualise how it changes lives, losing their body parts – breast, tongue, feet, hand, arms, internal organs …. making the person change their personality , hae families and marraiges broken and watched also how random people support one through small events and help us get through the day!

Cancer is evil. cancer is nasty. It takes away the health and wealth and mental peace of its victim.

BUt I also saw cancer make everyone believe in faith . Patients clutching their rosary beads. Having a prayer clicker for chants , sleeping with holy books of various religions under the pillow. I have watched families adjust their lives for that one person and ensured that they get the treatment even if it mean moving miles away from home among strangers.

I have been there myself as a daughter to a cancer patient and as one myself!

We wish we could cut that out and discard that sinful area forever but alas many times when we operate the spread is extensive or the surgery will cause more harm than good so we have a tough call to make and decide on pursuing some other form of treatment! or some days the cancer will just keep growing like the fire in hell which never stops burning and extends to consume the life out of the person ! with cancer usually it isnt a choice unless its an addiction which causes it or a genetic disorder….. most of the victims of the C are unsuspecting humans whose lives are torn apart..

But as Christians we have a ray of hope through prayer and reconciliation and confession where we can surrender our C (sins) to God and get mercy for it and mend our ways! and repent and prevent from burning into hell!!

Let us prep for Lent this coming month with a focus on repentance and forgiveness ( I know I have a massive list) but then it is a slow process as I am only human .. i am just a woman .. one day at a time!!!

AMEN

  1. Thank you Analise. This is bombastic. Cancer is not a choice, Neither is Gehanna. Let’s pray for us to make the right choices. Go for confession and draw closer to Jesus, and especially during this lent.
God bless you and keep you.

  2. Thank you Analise. Sin…the cancer of our earthly lives. Well said and point well taken. Bring on our best Lentt ever and eradicate our sin. Peace with you my sister.

  3. Very good analogy to user cancer and sin together as in how they can destroy the body, mind and soul. Good thing we have surgeons like you and medical staff to treat the cancer… and our God to remove our sins. He is Our Divine Physician!

  4. Cancer is a disease that infiltrates the body in a way that causes total destruction of your mind body and soul. May it be a reminder that sin is the devil at work and we have faith to strengthen us in our hour of sorrow! Looking forward to Lent and praying for renewal! God Bless…🙏🏼

  5. Wow ! You did an amazing reflection! And your job is hard I’m sure, but you have a huge heart of love.
