“Have you anything here to eat?”
They gave him a piece of baked fish;
he took it and ate it in front of them.

As I sit down to pen this reflection down, I have skipped my dinner post my evening out patient, I wasnt feeling hungry — a rare occasion in my life! So much so when I walked in and announced to my mother, that I would not be taking my supper, she flinched and asked me 3 times if I was okay! or if I had any issue at work!

Hunger is the most human emotion one can emote .. it affects all species, animals, reptiles and us! We will work for money to buy food or toil to grow our own food and then relish a good meal. While I am grown in a house where food was always a priority, my father had near fixed timings for meals and I never had to question any of it as I too grew into the habit of the same. My day revolves around my meals and I try to avoid messing the time schedule as it gives me some sense of control in my life.

As a resident doctor, I was deprived of this most basic meal due to odd hours of work and patient care came first as a doctor always! It hit me then, how much I can live without food and it didnt affect me that much as I anticipated or my mother described hunger! So when a risen from the dead Lord returns and asks for a meal, it made Him more human than those wounds in my eyes!

Today, we all have abundance of food, healthy, unhealthy, options that I never knew existed, meals which blow my mind and palate away! But there is one hunger we all long for , love! A hunger to be accepted and loved without judgement and questions… a love that we can get from HIM and our pets! The fact that we all as humans just want to be accepted as we are, with our looks, body type, beliefs, faith, color, tastes… and when everyone talks ill about the Pope opening the church for the LGBTQ community, I think we need to give them some love ! cause that is what we all want…

Life has made us cynical and while my state has witnessed some of its first ever communal issues and had police patrolling churches during holy week services, its time we walked in the room full of believers and skeptics and ate a fish or raised a toast to the risen Lord!

Alleluia !

PRAYER:

Today Lord, help me feed those who hunger for companionship and direction, with my words and small deeds! Help me live through your resurection with a renewed faith as I denounced the devil again. Guide me Lord to be your disciple and show me your path!

AMEN

  1. If Pope Francis were right regarding LGBTQ issues, then St. Paul must have been wrong (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

  2. I can understand your compassion for the LGBTQ community if it’s intended to encourage them turn them away from their sexual activities (just as we try to encourage adulterers, pedophiles and fornicators to turn away from their activities) so they can enjoy eternal life with Our Heavenly Father. With this in mind you have to be very careful that your compassion isn’t perceived as acceptance of their sexual practices. Otherwise they may take that perceived acceptance as encouragement to continue to separate themselves from God instead of leaning on God to help them overcome their lustful desires.

Never underestimate satan’s determination and ability to deceive us. He is a relentless foe.

Also remember that Jesus warned us “ If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.”

  3. Good reflection, Analise. God loves everybody. He made us all, and He loves us all, and He wants us to love everybody.

  4. Thank you Analise. Let the love and faith in Jesus guide us to a better place. Peace with you.

  5. My favorite line: love we can get from HIM … and our pets! 🐶😸 Truly animals can teach us to love like God. What a gift they are to us from our creator.

  6. Annalise, thank you for your reflection.
However, I feel John is spot on when he wrote:
“With this in mind you have to be very careful that your compassion isn’t perceived as acceptance of their sexual practices.”
    Peace to all.

  7. I find this to be such a struggle. Jesus says to love and not judge. We are all sinners. None of us can throw the stone at the woman. Let our amazing Lord and God take care of this. Love versus law. Definitely hard.

  8. My, my…so many judges among us. Won’t we ALL face our Maker and allow Him to have the final say?

  9. Although sin is an abyss of wickedness and ingratitude, the price paid for us can never be equalled. Therefore, let every soul trust in the Passion of the Lord, and place its hope in His mercy. God will not deny His mercy to anyone. Heaven and earth may change, but God’s mercy will never be exhausted.”
