whoever disobeys the Son will not see life,
but the wrath of God remains upon him.

As a child, the wrath of God was what scared me the most and helped me lay the foundation of my faith! But as I grew up into an adult with my own logic and thought , I kept wondering why would God want to punish His children. But as an Asian kid who knows “”spare the rod – spoil the child”” and had my fair share of teaching with such techniques.

I learnt that disobedience is not forgivable – neither with my worldly parents nor my Heavenly Father , however I did it! I had to have my way! and would argue and fight for every opinion I had! I still do but far more subtle or less assertive as I realised I dont always need to be correct!

As a faithful often I notice how the various people adapt to the faith, some will be singing at all church related events while some like me just sit in corners and silently judge them! While I often believe that doing is far better than telling, the need t constantly fulfill optics of being the “ideal christian person” ruin the actual need of faith!

This new easter let us show our faith with actions and fear the wrath of the Lord!

Prayer:

Guide me Lord into your light and help me to shin bright to everyone I know! Amen

  1. Thank you Analise, thought it strange to still fear God’s wrath…s.Romans 3:23 No distinction is made: all have sinned and lack God’s glory…… but Alleluia,Easter! 2 Samuel 31- This God,his way is blameless; the word of Yahweh is refined in the furnace, for he alone is the shield of all who take refuge in him. Alleluia!

  2. Thank you Analise for sharing. I did grow up in a Catholic home with the spare the rod spoil the child. I also had a strong will and good faithful parents and 11 siblings. Mine wasn’t fear Gods wrath but wanting to be in that number when the saints go marching in. Jesus took the wrath away and replaced it with LOVE. Just as my parents were always there, God is always here also. I’m not fearful but grateful. Bless the Lord! Bless all ACM writers and readers. ALLELUIA He has Risen!🙌

  3. Thank you Analise. It’s hard to admit we are not perfect yet God is so generous with each one of us…if I only just reach out and take hold of His hand more often throughout my day…

  4. Analise,
We (family of 7) got the “rod” sparingly, but enough to know what it was. It’s called consequences!
I’ve only had to spank my child a few times but not without a warning.
My daughter is now 30 years old and we have a very good relationship.
I’m glad I was not spared the rod – it taught me valuable lessons of consciousness to actions.
