I forgave you your entire debt because you begged me to.
Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant,
as I had pity on you?’
Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers
until he should pay back the whole debt.
So will my heavenly Father do to you,
unless each of you forgives his brother from his heart.”

There is nothing much for anyone to decipher! Forgiveness is not a virtue I have often, maybe after a few hours or days have past!

Jesus doesn’t wait for that long , He just wants us to sort our issues and come to Him. In an age of social media, I notice issues written in various platforms . Recently there was some communal hate spread through northern India leading to killings.

In my state, a priest mentioned about a historical figure in his Homily and lo and behold there was a complaint and police case registered. It led to unrest, people coming in hoards to support and some condemning his comments! While the priest sorted it out with regretful apology, the simple act of forgiveness amongst us as a community seems to have declined.

I remember reading a meme , saying in church on sunday everything is perfect and as we step out into parking lot, evil takes over! I agree wholeheartedly.

Humans are a tough race to deal with and with the tolerance and freedom fo speech being given a tough clause – every one ha sto measure their words and aactions

Maybe we should as christians pray for the Lord to guide us in our daily lives and refrain from anything that will cause otherwise.

Learn to forgive as easily as we get triggered and focus on the ultimate ending of the judgment day!

AMEN.

  1. Analise, this reading and reflection are both appreciated right now! I sadly admit that forgiveness is something I struggle with regularly but pray to improve on and let go. Thank you for your wonderful reflection!

  2. Thank you Analise. Forgiveness is a tough act to follow. Prayer and contemplation has to accompany it. It is our free will to decide to forgive. Let it be seventy seven times seven. Peace with you my sister.

  3. “Learn to forgive as easily as we get triggered…” So right on the mark, especially in today’s culture. Something I struggle with but I’m trying everyday to turn it over to God, to let go and to forgive (others as well as myself)

  4. Thanks Annalise! The Gospel and your reflection reminded me of a poster saying John Ciribassi has in one of his reflections – forgive others as quickly as you expect God to forgive you! That’s a high bar for me many days but I’m trying to be better!
