This is a national holiday for us Indians, we celebrate freedom from British colonialism after 200 years in 1947. while crores of Indian freedom fighters laid down their lives to enable us to be free and live as a democracy , somedays I rethink – are we free ? truly ?

few days ago , a resident female doctor working on her night shift , had her dinner with he juniors and retreated to her seminar room ( as there are n on call rooms) to take a night nap and rest. The following morning her dead body was found win semi nude state and severe injuries , while the postmortem report suggested she was sexually assaulted and murdered.

Our entire medical fraternity is shocked, the hospital is supposed to be a safe space for everyone including us overnight working residents who spend our sleep time treating patients exhausted and tired. while nationwide protests have been held at all hospitals by doctors especially residents – no on really cares!

Its disheartening to see that a nation where parents want their children to be doctors to prove their intelligence and ensure their future safety in terms of earnings.. no one bothered about this girl.

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me
and holy is his Name.

Being a woman is a privilege and none other than Mother Mary could embody this immaculate conception with her humility and supplication to the Lord. Mother Mary was taken in all her glory to the heavens and ensured we realise how powerful a surrender to her is.

As I grew up I was told at school and home, that always send all your prayers via Mother Mary and that had a deep impact on me. My own mom is a devout faithful of mama Mary and guided me to say a hail Mary whenever in doubt. It always worked wonders. my dad sleeps with His rosary under the pillow and we never take off our scapulars.

Today when as a woman in an free country I feel unsafe , I look unto Mama Mary for all the courage and strength and will always hope to be sheltered under her wing and pushed unto the Lord.

Let us all complete todays day with a mass and a hail Mary!

AMEN.

  7. Such a violent crime on a defenceless young woman who should have been safe in her place of work. You must feel both be saddened and angry Analise.
Continue to pray your Hail Marys and place your trust in God and his Blessed Mother.I will pray for the soul of that young woman and for the ongoing safety of you and your colleagues.

  8. This attack and death is shocking; but more shocking is that today we can expect such things. It is little different in Britain where women are abused and assaulted and children murdered. I feel ashamed to be a man, although the large majority of us despise these evil creatures.

God knows the full picture, and we must (can only) put our hope in him. In the meantime, thank you for your good work, Annalise. Never give up.

  9. Leave your peace; Stay awake…vigilance
Courage…..pray for these virtues And may it ever be in our leaders…Amen
