Thursday, 14th January 2021 – keep swimming…..

In my last reflection, I was a girl in a new city, running every day to learn about the fascinating yet to me unappealing world of artificial reproductive techniques, I was inspired and awestruck by my teacher. While she stood and taught about the science and works behind making man made babies with so much enthusiasm. She shared about her journey teaching and training so many gynecologists the same ART, providing 1800 and more babies to couples from all across the world, being a pioneer in her field of work and now handing over the reigns to her family. What struck me most was the story of her optimism and battle of a stage 4 cancer!

While this lady proved her self nearly invincible in her field of work.. she was put in a situation by God ( as per her beliefs and no other risk factors) and as I listened to her talk about her life and achievements and near death encounters.. I could not but help feel a little inspired by her zest for life!

While we all get so caught up in our daily lives as professionals or even retired workers or even as homemakers.. we tend to just get caught up in the mundane.. We do not celebrate the little wins we make and never even share them out loud, instead whine about issues that we cannot make any change to like the weather or traffic.. I personally for the past 2 weeks have been whining about the lack of time and hectic schedule that makes me so exhausted physically and mentally that I skipped saying prayers!

But the Lord says in His words today ,

Take care, brothers and sisters,
that none of you may have an evil and unfaithful heart,
so as to forsake the living God.
Encourage yourselves daily while it is still “today,”
so that none of you may grow hardened by the deceit of sin.
We have become partners of Christ
if only we hold the beginning of the reality firm until the end.

While Jesus heals 10 lepers , I hope never to be among the 9 who never looked back but have the humility to accept the blessings given to me on a daily basis through my work and deeds. But not wait for a “catastrophe” to recognize how blessed I am to be a daughter of the living God and push through everyday with the enthusiasm of Dory in Finding Nemo— Keep swimming!!!!

PRAYER:

Today Lord I thank you for the blessings in my life– my family, friends and the intellect and education I have received. I thank you for this new year and ask you to help me focus on the good in each day and push through eveyrday with your strength!

AMEN.
