Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words—
go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet.

In India , June to September are the monsoon months, at least along west coast where I live and work. So waking up to pouring rains and getting to work half drenched despite having a car can be a real great start to a day! While the wet clothes and constant damp weather can be a little downer on the mood, my pet peeve is the footwear getting wet – I absolutely hate when I step into wet mud and have to walk around with that muddy footprint everywhere!

So the solution, is a door mat – as I step outside / inside the house, I stamp and wipe off the mud from my sole and wash my feet squeaky clean ! much like todays Gospel, we all have mud and dust stuck to our souls and soles – in almost every rainy season when we deviate from the sunny shiny life under Gods words! Its time we wipe off the muck and clean our souls to bare it – to receive from the Lord – HIs words and love!

As I sat and pondered how blessed I am with all the choices I have made and how amazing it feels to be alive everyday, I realised my faith is a massive part of my life! As Christians we are called to speak and live our faith even as lay people and I hope I am doing justice to mine on an everyday basis!

Let us evaluate our daily life, see if we still cant feel the cleanliness of the word of God wash our muck away from our souls!

AMEN.

  1. Thank you Analise. It’s true we pick up dirt without sometimes even realising it, and need to let God show us and help clean ourselves. Examining our conscience and going to confession helps to keep our eyes on the one who is all good.

We take good care of our physical bodies and are quick to wash away any dirt or germs throughout the day.
