“Let the children be fed first.
For it is not right to take the food of the children
and throw it to the dogs.”
She replied and said to him,
“Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s scraps.”

To be honest .. I still can’t understand this entire language and its confusing to me ! I love dogs and children… both groups love so unconditionally and can make one feel as the most important person at that given moment with all the attention they give one!

I believe both should be nurtured , fed, bathed and looked after especially when we are the ones that chose to have them in our lives — it is not their choice!

Very similar to how the Lord wants us to love him unconditionally and ensures we are taken care of in good and bad times! although we may feel otherwise!

Often when we do not keep in touch with our faith ( like me at the moment) it feels like Im the dog waiting for scraps from the Lord and unable to reach in that row of children ahead of me .. I know I haven’t loved God almighty unconditionally and placed my work , my rest and earthly desires on a higher pedestal than my relationship with Christ.

Maybe we all have not ! Faltered midway with our faith and fumbled in the darkness of daily routines and unable to see the light to clear my path…

I want to focus my pre Lent time to be a better human and Christian and stop the innate hatred I have for some humans who wronged me or hurt me despite me not doing anything!

Lets Hope and pray I can move among the children at the table of the Lord !

AMEN

  1. Thanks for your honesty and desire to be a child of God. Striving for this can be difficult for us weak humans. God’s grace and understanding never shuts the door. Hang in there my sister and may the peace of Christ inspire you to be childlike.

  2. You speak to my heart. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and may God bless you for your efforts.

  3. Thank you Analise. We Christians can strive for perfection but so often fall short and become discouraged.Keep praying and trying,God knows and loves you🙏🏻

  4. Pray for those who hurt you or offended you . Jesus even forgave those who hurt and betrayed him . Praise the Lord as soon as you awaken . This is the start of a blessed day

  5. Analise, I simply love ALL your reflections because they ooze integrity, immanence and humility. You capture well the struggles to maintain an active faith in the midst of inner and outer turmoil. So today’s gem was an innate hatred of those who have harmed us. My mother just died and she had chosen me to do all her funeral planning and thus evoked warped and twisted jealousy in some of my siblings who attempted to harm me in direct and indirect ways. The funeral has been done but I have lingering feelings of hatred and disgust that I am praying fervently about

  6. Thank you for the reflection Analise. You made some very good points today and (once again) have highlighted our “fallen humanity”. I often go down the same path you are traveling. Have you ever read the Merton Prayer? In it, his doubts are put into words. But, he flips his uncertainty by saying “but I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please you.” God knows we’re not perfect. Thus, God’s mercy.
    Peace ✌️

  7. You truly write from the heart and so appreciate the time you take from your busy schedule to enlighten us ! God bless you !
