Thursday 13 th August- forgive and forget!

While this morning I woke up with my best friend informing me he was blessed with a baby boy, his first born and perfect little bundle of joy…. the amazing beauty of life ….

As I write 12 hours later, I am informed of the death of another patient to covid 19 infection.. One minute fine , in hours he deteriorated to GCS 3 ( Glasgow coma scale ) … it just is shocking to know how quickly life can end!!!

And in the time between both these events of start and the end, we live! or try to … as per the norms taught to us and seen fit by us.. some times or more often not perfect .. not even remotely near what 10 commandments has asked us to do..

Lord, if my brother sins against me,
how often must I forgive him?
As many as seven times?”
Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.

easier said then done, soooo much easier said……. its hard to forgive and when somehow we push those memories into some corner of your brain and avoid the emotional rush that comes along. we FORGET!! But the solution isnt that, it is to deal with the elephant in the room and speak the heart out and resolve..

Rising above and forgiving that brother who just seems to do everything wrong… that old boss who scarred you so much … the co worker who just made life so difficult… that family member who just keeps putting you down for every failure or flaw they find… It is HARD!! the resentment grows and its difficult to even forget .. so much that it becomes like a victim mentality for us to escape from our actions and consequences….

So today, take a pen and paper and write down all those in your life who hurt you… physically and mentally and worse spiritually one page and on the other people you have hurt…. fold it up and pray for them everyday a decade of the Rosary and ask their forgiveness and help yourself forgive them…. then when you feel ready — tell them you are over it all…. FORGIVEN AND FORGOTTEN!!!

PRAYER: Dear JEsus, I lift this ( name ) person to you and ask your forgiveness for all the hurt and pain they caused in my life. Help me Lord to appreciate the chance you give me with every day to forgive them and move on .. HElp me Lord to realise the amount of pain I have caused the ( name ) person and bless them with your love and help them forgive my wrong doing and rebuild the broken. Amen.

  4. A dear friend once said ‘The best way to live happier, is to forgive others even before they wrong you.’

Indeed, there’s so much peace associated with forgiving others.

    God bless you richly, Analisa.

  5. I love that you speak from your heart Analise. As flawed humans it’s often so hard to live out the gospel message. Thanks for your sharing your insights.

  6. Some thoughts to share:

Mark 11:25, “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” And in Our Lord’s prayer, “Father forgive us our trespasses AS we forgive those who trespass against us.” Do we expect complete forgiveness? Then we should be prepared to forgive completely and totally.

None can match the forgiveness of Jesus – 1 cross + 3 nails = 4given. Thank you Jesus.

  7. Two years ago a former boss that l never did like ( and putting it nicely) died and the Facebook post stated that her last wish was that she didn’t want to die alone. Thankfully her family was with her when she died. I prayed for her as l read the post and today l hope she is at peace wherever she is.
