“And I tell you, ask and you will receive;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives;
and the one who seeks, finds;
and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

As a doctor the one aspect I learnt about patients is to ask! They do not reveal any history unless we ask and if we assume it is not important, we can miss out a lot! So now we ask for questions – called Leading questions !

These guide our conversation and history from patient and helps us diagnose and plan the next step. unlike us doctors, God is omnipresent- hence we will ensure we make him proud of people!

Today is my favourite passage especially with regards to the fact.

About the Author

Hello! I’m Dr Analise Maria D’ Mello, (MBBS, MS obgyn, DNB) from the beautiful state of Goa in India. I was born and raised in a Roman Catholic family, learning my prayers, catechism and Catholic values from my parents and grandmothers. I am currently practicing as an obstetrician and gynecologist for 3 years since my residency. I often speak on anti-abortion to college students and married couples, and counsel distressed pregnant women with appropriate medical advice. I am part of the St Luke's Medical Guild of Catholic Doctors in my state providing services in prisons, and Lenten and advent retreats for medical professionals and their families.

  1. Help is all to be humble in our asking. To believe the Lord our God wants us to ask in His name, in His will and be open to what He gives us, what we receive.

  2. Thank you Analise. Ask, seek and knock. Seems pretty simple. The master behind the door awaits our action. Peace with you my sister.

  3. I’ve been asking for years for God’s help in breaking my habits of sin. It seems He hasn’t answered much yet, because I’m still sinning. But I’m still living, and I am human, therefore I continue to sin because we all do.
    Lord God, take these sins from us and give us good habits…we are asking and seeking and knocking.

  4. Fire21, keep on asking & seeking & knocking. Consider the life of St. Monica, or of St. Moses the Black, who changed from a violent criminal into a revered monk – bit by bit, day by day, until he finally received his everlasting crown.
