MONDAY OF THE FOURTH WEEK OF LENT, YEAR C, MARCH 31, 2025

Today is the last day of the month of March 2025. It is a day to be thankful to God for the month that is about to end and to pray for the month about to begin, April.
Do you know how to thank God?
Do you trust in God’s word?
Few weeks ago, we read the story of the Transfiguration of Jesus and we heard the Father’s voice, telling us to “Listen” to His Son.
The royal official in today’s Gospel listened to Jesus.
The royal official’s son is sick and asks Jesus to come to his house. Rather than going to his house, Jesus instructs him to go home because his son will live. With such instruction from Jesus, the official’s faith was tested. Will he accept His words?
Today’s gospel passage says: “The man believed what Jesus said to him and left,” He places his trust in Jesus words. As the official arrives home, he finds his son healthy and hardy.
It was because of his trust in Jesus that his son was healed. It was because he places his trust in Christ’s words, that his whole household becomes believers.
The man believes in Jesus, though, he has no proof, only the word of Jesus: “Go, your son will live”

Like the royal official, we are called to trust in Jesus’ words without proof. Jesus assures us that He is with us until the end of time.

As we gather to celebrate the Eucharist today, we gather because of Jesus’s words. We trust in Jesus that He will change the bread into His Body and the wine into His Blood, as He promised, “Do this in memory of Me.”

May this Lenten season be a time to ask for an increase in trust. Let us ask Jesus to forgive us the many times we refused to trust in His words. For the times we allowed fear and confusion to rob us of our trust in God, we ask for pardon.

May we listen to Jesus as the Father had instructed.

Have a wonderful Week.
