“He who trusts in himself is lost. He who trusts in God can do all things.” “What does it cost us to say, ‘My God help me! Have mercy on me!’ Is there anything easier than this? And this little will suffice to save us if we be diligent in doing it.” – St. Alphonsus Liguori
Jesus help me was the central message in today’s gospel. A great miracle was performed by Jesus in Galilee when He healed the sick son of an official in Capernaum at his request.
Jesus help me, words of courage, from a desperate father, a father’s whose precious child was ill.
The royal official braced all odds to go to Jesus and asked for help.
The official had heard about Jesus and his many great miracles and signs.
He believed that Jesus can extend such favors to him and his son.
Jesus told him that his son would be well again. The official believed in the Lord, even without witnessing the miracle done in person. The official believed and trusted in the Lord, and as a result, the son was healed exactly at the very same time or moment that the Lord told the official that his son would be well.
One thing to keep in mind is that there some in the crowd who have seen and witnessed many of the signs and wonders done by the Lord, yet they refused and failed to believe.
One may ask: How do I deepen my relationship with God and grow in understanding and appreciation of God’s love, kindness and grace?
How can I grow in my commitment to His cause and path?
Spiritual growth is the answer. Each day we have many opportunities and chances to decide on what to do in our lives. One day at a time.
