January 1st, Mary, Mother of God

Madonna of Humility, The Blessing Christ, Two Angels, and a Donor

The Lord bless you and keep you! The Lord let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you! The Lord look upon yo kindly and give you peace!

The above Madonna is that of Our Lady of Humility. I am grateful to say that you and I have made it to 2021. God has given us another day, another month and another year. We truly have a glorious God and, yes, we are blessed.

In 1959 there was a movie called ” Count your blessings” with Deborah Kerr, Rossano Brazzi, and Maurice Chevalier staring in the film. Honestly, I have no idea what the story line was but the title is meaningful today just as it was to the shepherds visited the Christ Child and the Holy Family.

Through all her pain and trials, Mary counted her blessings. She has been and is always our inspiration. She said let it be done to me according to thy will. She risked death by stoning, Herod’s murderous plot to kill the Newborn King. She traveled to Egypt and eventually back home to Nazareth.

As we enter the glorious year Anos Domini 2021 let us follow Mary’s example and count our blessings every day. Just as in 1959 or today the problems will still be there. We may forget the plot of a book or movie. But because of Christmas morning, our blessings will always be greater than anything else . Focus on the blessings.

Happy and Blessed New Year!

God Love you Always
