You are not one of this man’s disciples, are you?
The world has standards but I am more concerned by God’s standards than the social graces and standards of the world. In self-examination do I really act that way. Would I have acted like Peter? Would I say one thing and do another?
I have no problem abstaining from meat and fasting today. I will work for a few hours but should make it to 3:00 PM service at my church. It is a busy day and a sad day. The only thread that keeps me sane is that we know how the story ends. Nonetheless, this is not a happy day. I am sure the medical description of Jesus’s death is enough to make anyone sick. Crucifixion is basically suffocation along with the scourging and whipping.
I have to turn away thinking of the brutal death of Christ. What makes it worse is that I contributed to His pain by my sins. Guilty!
History can give many examples of people that have died cruel and inhuman deaths. Jesus didn’t have to die. Jesus chose to die for us. Greater love hath no man, yet alone the Second person of the Blessed Trinity who was innocent and wrongly accused.
Today, we appreciate the sacrifice that Jesus made to reconcile mankind to their creator. My all my actions today and always show that “Yes” I am one of His Disciples.
God Love You Always
