Friday, December !3th, Feast of Saint Lucy, Virgin and Martyr

I, the Lord, your God, teach you what is good for you,I lead you in the way that you must go. If only you had been alert to my commandments, your happiness would have been like a river,

Compromise!

There is a disturbing trend that I have noticed on Facebook from some of my Protestant Evangelical Friends. The pastors they follow all are calling for death to all Muslims. I find this to be very, very Non-Christian. In Matthew 28:17-20 Jesus’s final words before He arose into Heaven gave us a mission to”Make Disciples of All Nations”. It seems that we can’t make a disciple of a dead person.

The concept is problematic in our world as a whole. We tend to use the sins of Homosexuals, Transgender, as greater than the sins we carry. A good looking attractive rich person can commit adultery we don’t have the moral indignation if is done by a poor person. It is a smoke and mirror approach to say that other people’s sins are greater than our own.

Saint Lucy was martyred because she would not compromise her faith. We too cannot compromise our belief in the commandments and not approve of our sins or the sins of others. When God gave us the commandments, He knew that they would be the blueprint to make our lives the happiest in His eyes. Your children would have been numbered like the sand, your descendants as many as its grains. Never would your name have been cut off or blotted out before me.

I know I am preaching to the choir here. Nonetheless, we have to be aware of compromise in our own lives. Do we gossip about others, do we take advantage of our employers or as an employer do we take advantage of our employees? The Third Sunday of Advent is one of “Joy”. Our greatest joy is the state of Grace and to follow the commandments. We cannot compromise our own happiness by trying to sit in the judgement seat that belongs to God.

God Love You Always

  1. Thank you Bob. Always a good takeaway from your reflections. No judgement, and no compromise. Peace and joy with you my brother.

  2. Thank you Bob.You are so right. It’s easy to sit back in our comfortable armchair and criticise and pass judgement on others who are different from us.I need to look deeply into my own heart and recognise my own sins and shortcomings.
