Something which has existed since the beginning, that we have heard, and we have seen with our own eyes; that we have watched and touched with our hands: the Word, who is life – this is our subject.
Merry Christmas!
Not everything is Merry and Bright this time of year, but we have a choice to make it so. I work parttime at a deli and before Christmas where I worked four days straight. That is a lot for a senior employee, Nonetheless, I survived. Many of my customers are elderly but some are much younger. Some have relatives that have died, and others have separated their relationships for a multitude of reasons.
One of my customers who doesn’t drive and depends on neighbors to bring her into the store was having difficulty coming up with a holiday meal that would feed her. She is not having family this Christmas season. Her family is celebrating in other places this Christmas. She is not estranged from family or friends but is alone. “The Word, who is life – this is our subject “She had a great Christmas with the meal that we designed. She had Jesus, Our Savior, and friends and family that carried her through the day.
That life was made visible: we saw it and we are giving our testimony, telling you of the eternal life which was with the Father and has been made visible to us. You and I are witnesses and a visible testimony to the fact that Jesus is Lord. We are His hands and feet on Earth.
Why?
Jesus is the life within us. I hugged two men after Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve and these are men that I don’t ordinarily hug or have a close relationship. Nonetheless, either they needed it or I did and maybe all of us did. We are all active in varying degrees of ministry at Church. The Word which is Jesus is our life within us.
The little actions and expressions of love are more important than the grand ones. May the Christmas Season be full of those actions.
God Love You Always
