Think of the love that the Father has lavished on us, by letting us be called God’s children.
Did you ever see anyone sleep as a baby sleeps? A new mom and her sleeping baby came into the Deli where I work part-time. We both stood there and admired the peace, wonder and total abandonment to the cares of the world that that child possessed. It was a beautiful moment of peace.
We all would like that peace for ourselves. Surely everyone who entertains this hope must purify himself, must try to be as pure as Christ. Now I know for a fact I am not as pure as Christ or as pure an innocent baby I admired. Nonetheless, it is what I strive to be. I think we all have the desire, but, but our nature and the world get in the way.
We could just sleep more because when we sleep, we or anyone else is not getting into trouble. This, however, is not what we are supposed to do. We have been given the great commission in Matthew 28:17-20. We are supposed to evangelize the world. The great irony is that we are to preach perfection but are not perfect ourselves. We are adults and must take the responsibilities and gifts we have to perform our mission.
In the end we look at Jesus Christ who at the end of His life looked like a failure on the Cross. We too may fail in the eyes of the world, but we must try to be as perfect as Christ. That is why Jesus gave us the Sacrament of Reconciliation. When we leave the Confessional, we become a child again. We become pure and full of possibilities. Yes, we will come back as long is takes to become as pure as Christ.
Happy Childhood!
God Love You Always
