Friday, April 4th the Fourth Week of Lent

The godless say to themselves, with their misguided reasoning: ‘Our life is short and dreary, nor is there any relief when man’s end comes, nor is anyone known who can give release from Hades. Let us lie in wait for the virtuous man, since he annoys us and opposes our way of life

Sin can make mankind very arrogant!

Never deny that Hell exists. The Devil exists. Sin exists. The consequences of sin exist. We as humans do not like change. We resist it in all circumstances. Deep in sin we ignore the fact that we have to accept change to save ourselves. Luckily, the Book of Wisdom predicted the Savior, Jesus Christ. Don’t think that there anyone or anything other than Jesus is the solution.

My Lutheran buddies have a joke. “How many Lutherans does it take to change a light bulb? ” Answer: “Change?” “Change?” ” We don’t change”. Honestly, this rings true for any of us. We are all resistant to change. Change is painful and not easy. Nonetheless, it could save our lives. One of my relatives died from a drug overdose. Change came too late for him. His name was Charles.

This is the way they reason, but they are misled, their malice makes them blind. They do not know the hidden things of God, they have no hope that holiness will be rewarded, they can see no reward for blameless souls.

Change may be painful, but it is never too late. We always can turn and change directions. Part of my prayer life is to say the Rosary every day. Among other prayers it is the basis of my daily prayers. I have people to pray for and I also examine my own actions. I ask Jesus to put me on the right path. It is easy to go the wrong way. There is only “One Way”!

Going back to my joke. If we don’t change the light bulb we are doomed to aimlessly grope in the dark. We could fall off a cliff or fall into a hole. Christ is our light and our salvation. Christ has given us a new light bulb with the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We need to change the old bulb and turn on the light.

God Love You Always
