Friday, June 8, 2018 – His Sacred Heart | The Healing Heart

“My heart is overwhelmed” – the words God spoke to Hosea when he gazed upon his children, children, who up until this point had expressed indignant, and rather blatant, disobedience and rebellion towards God. Yet, God’s heart remained full of love for them. If anyone ever tells you that the God of the Old Testament is an angry wrathful God then I invite you to point them to today’s first reading. Our God is a God full of tender love for his children – always has been and always will be. Even when we fall short and sin, his love remains. God’s steadfast love never wanes and it never wavers.

The Sacred Heart

Today we celebrate the Sacred Heart of God – the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. You see, God loved us so much that he had to come down and live with us – fully God and fully human in every way except sin. His love for us called him into the “human experience”. God is eternal and his love for us is eternal as well. His eternal love for humanity is found in the Sacred Heart of the Second Person of the Holy Trinity – Jesus Christ.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. John 1:1-3

And this is why the Sacred Heart of Jesus is so precious and powerful – it is the heart of God in both human and divine form. This is where we can go for true healing, the seat of love itself. Each and every one of us has experienced both love and the absence of love. It can be tough being human… However, we have a place to go for respite that is eternally available to us – God’s Sacred Heart.

Seeking Wholeness and Healing

We all seek wholeness and healing; for ourselves, for our loved ones, and for the world. In order to receive real healing we must find a way to release our pain and move beyond it. Does this sound hard or impossible? I suppose it often does – it certainly sounds hard to me when things get rough. (Like right now, my mother’s heart is breaking – again). In an attempt to be vulnerable here I want to share something with you – it is very hard for me to escape my tendency towards depression and receive real healing when things get tough. When hard times happen a big part of me wants to crawl up in a ball and fall into deep sadness. And sometimes I do indeed fall. Then I remind myself of Jesus’ words.

“…For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” – Matthew 11:30

Human Pain

If Jesus’ words are true, and they are, then there is a way through our pain and brokenheartness. This way is Jesus Christ himself – through his wounds. He came and suffered for all of humanity. In his body – his entire body; his physical, emotional, and spiritual body, he experienced every wound of mankind. Every one of our sins became manifest in him, and this is where our Triune God wants us to place our wounds. Our sins are beyond our human ability to transform and heal them. All of our human pain is beyond our ability to heal it. We are not that powerful and this is why we need an eternal savior – Jesus Christ. We must unite our pain with his, it is the right place to lay it down.

“…with his stripes we are healed” – Isaiah 53:5.

His Sacred Heart

The healing balm mankind needs is found in the Sacred Heart of Jesus – the seat of divine love. The old Beatles song “Love Is All You Need” is indeed true. The love in Jesus’ heart called him to absorb our pain, yet, God gave us free will and we must actively surrender our pain to Jesus Christ. God loves us too much to force anything upon us – even if something is for our good. If you are a parent yourself I am sure you can relate. When was the last time you wanted something good for your child, yet, you had to sit back and allow them to make their mistakes. I am experiencing this heartache with my middle daughter right now.

LIVE Language (Love is Victorious Everywhere)

If you are familiar with my work then you may be familiar with the term LIVE Language. LIVE Language is verbiage that brings about transformation and healing. Many of my LIVE statements fit in perfectly with today’s readings so I thought I would share a bit of this with you today. I hope you find them useful on your journey.

To begin, we must acknowledge that all true healing is only available through Jesus’ stripes – his wounds. I understand that thinking about Jesus’ intense suffering and accepting that he did this for us is a bitter pill to swallow. However, it is true. He came and suffered for us – and he would do it all over again if needed. I believe the best way we can honor God, and what he carried for us in the person Jesus Christ, is by uniting our wounds with the wounds of Christ. This is God’s desire. Then, once we have given our wounds to Christ we must surrender to his Sacred Heart and ask for healing – healing that only comes from divine love.

Here is a sample of LIVE Language:

“I acknowledge all of the pain and heartache I feel in my body and I unite it with the pain Jesus experienced for me in his Passion. I call it up out of my body and I lay it at the foot of the Cross for Jesus to do with it as he wills. Then I ask God, through Jesus, in the Holy Spirit to come into that space and heal it with the divine love of his Sacred Heart so I can experience my life as God desires.

Note: When you call up your pain I invite you to be specific. For example. Let’s say you are experiencing anger towards your sister-in-law Sally because she gossips about your children to your mother-in-law Beth. Ouch right? In this case you may want to say “I acknowledge the anger I feel towards Sally when she gossips about my children to Beth and I unite my anger with the pain Jesus experienced for me in his Passion. I call it up out of my body and I lay it at the foot of the cross for Jesus to do with it what he wills. Then I ask God, through Jesus, in the Holy Spirit to come in that space and heal it with the divine love and forgiveness of his Sacred Heart so I can love and forgive Sally as God desires.”

My Birthday and My Work

Well, today (June 7th – I write my Friday reflection on Thursday) is my 55th birthday and I am looking at my life – and my work. I guess that’s why I shared a bit of my work with you in today’s reflection. I love my work, and in all humility I will share with you that God works powerfully in it. Walking with individuals through their pain into new life is an amazing gift – sometimes I can’t believe God gave this to me. But he did, and I need to be a good steward of this work.

I am asking for your prayers as I move forward with greater vigor. Admittedly, I hold back and don’t share much about my work in this blog – I don’t want my words to come across as a “sales pitch”. I guess I need to get over that. Anyway, this work belongs to God and I am in need of prayers for its expansion into the world. I’m not sure what God intends; however, I know our prayers will provide a catalyst needed. I have dedicated my life to God and his intention for me. He has called me to be a healer, and while I don’t really know what that looks like on a larger scale, I trust him. Thank you in advance for all of your prayers. If you would like to learn more about my work I invite you to visit my website here: The LIVE Method.

Everyone continue to pray for me as I am afflicted with serious bronchectasis.
I pray that the love of God through Jesus’s sacred heart heal and help me draw closer to his divine mercy.

  9. Your words this morning so move me. I too get times of lowness, and can only turn to prayer, the only “remedy” , I go to the Garden of Gethsemane and pour my sadness-es into those of Our Lord. Sometimes the clouds lighten, but sometimes they don’t, yet having shared with the Lord makes them more bearable. I prayed especially for you, at Mass this morning (just back) and for your daughter. St. Paul’s prayer for us, that we come to know height, breadth, depth, of God’s love for us, brought her very much to mind, and so I placed her within it, so to speak. Much love to you, a happy birthday! God bless.

  10. I thank you again for another wonderful reflection. Your work for the Lord is amazing. Please know that all your efforts are helping people heal and come closer to God. Thank you again and have a great birthday. I will continue to pray for you.

  11. As I read all the comments, I’m so amazed at the love and unselfish hearts! Thank you for letting Jesus be your Lord. Happy birthday Carolyn! I pray for your daughter and all these requests and past requests (Jerry, I’m still praying about the heart beat in your ears as well as other requests..Debbie, for Donavan, Al, Cletus, Patty, etc). Help me to lay down my life at the cross and give it to Jesus so I may be the wife God leads me to be. That my husband may know and accept God’s unfathomable love!

  12. I, too have a middle daughter who has lost her way. I feel so sorry for this younger generation. They fill the ‘God hole ‘ with everything but God and suffer for it. As Catholic parents, we know the solution, but have to trust our kids to Him. I can only offer my children to the Mercy of God and trust He will save them. I pray for your daughter, and I hope you will pray for mine. God bless and thank you for today’s beautiful reflection!

  13. Thank you for sharing about your own battle toward depression and for walking us through the surrender of pain process. It seems to me God is using you right where your at.
Happy Birthday and prayers for you and your family.

  14. Thanks Carolyn for this very wonderful reflection. I pray that your daughter sees the light and she will turn to God through salvation. God bless you for your good work in preaching the Gospel and strengthening people

I ask for your continued prayers for my brother as he is getting weaker and closer to going to be with Christ. Also for a friend that has had a relapse with mono and is very ill.My sister who is dealing with diabetes and stroke issues and a a son who is an alcoholic.God bless you all

  17. Happy birthday, Carolyn. Thank you for all your work, especially the creation of GLFC. I continue to pray for the requests of this community. I ask for prayers for my father, sons, daughter in laws, and grandchildren that they may be blessed with the gift of faith. My father is 86. He says he will not accept Christ just because he’s older and his time is growing short. He says he would love to believe but can’t just make that happen. God has to change his heart so he may believe.

  18. I will be twenty years older than you on Monday. I think your daughter has a lovely, intelligent and caring mother. I also suspect you need some let it be attitude. Trying to use prayer to control situations can lead to a lot of frustration. You may need to turn it over and leave it in God’s hands, being loving and accepting of that girl’s freedom.

  19. Happy Birthday ??. May God give you everything you wish for you and your family. Can you please pray for me to heal, my mind, heart and body .
    God bless you ?

  20. Happy Birthday, Carolyn! And I’m so sorry that you are going through a rough time with Brittany. You were just posting about her birthday and it seemed as if things were going well. May the Lord continue to see you and her through this situation, and steer you safely to shore with him.
