Easter Friday, April 9th

Calvary

This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to his disciples after being raised from the dead.

During the next few minutes ask yourself this question.

When was the last time I encountered Jesus?

Peter in our first reading says about Jesus, He is the stone rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. There is no salvation through anyone else, nor is there any other name under heaven given to the human race by which we are to be saved.

Jesus is the cornerstone. We have no path or can build no house or home without Him. So when was the last time you encountered Him. Was it Easter Sunday, the Vigil Mass Saturday, Good Friday, or Holy Thursday or some other time during Lent? Was it today?

Jesus doesn’t overwhelm us, because He wants us to come to Him of our own free will. He wants a relationship unfettered by the world. In Exodus 20:5 it says I am a jealous God. Now God is not insecure. He does not need us but the only way to Heaven is to have a singular relationship with Him and His Son Jesus.

So the simple message today is to clear the clutter from our lives that was not removed during the season of Lent and begin with the cornerstone.

We all think we have a relationship with Jesus but sometimes we deviate from the cornerstone and try to choose other paths. Five thousand people were converted the day that Peter cured the lame man in the name of Jesus the cornerstone. Today is our chance.

When was the last time you encountered Jesus?
