For just as lightning flashes
and lights up the sky from one side to the other,
so will the Son of Man be in his day.
But first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation
.

Shine bright like a diamond… goes the song !

On 14th November , every year we celebrate children’s day … while as kids it meant a day off school where we went in casual clothes and ditched the school uniform, the teachers performed for students, we had games , parties and yes a lot of snacks and sweets.

While we grow up I often reminisce the time I spent as a child and unlike anyone else I absolutely loved my child hood years…. I was always into some extra curricular activity at school and acing all my exams, I was doing my best , learning the violin, western classical music and training in Indian classical dance all together. I had amazing parents who supported every thing I participated in. I was sent to personality development camps to improve my talking and writing skills and also learn to network with other kids.

I would participate in every camp and competition I could find and enjoy it all. I never felt burn out or stressed. I listened and prayed the daily rosary and Bible reading , attended catechism at church in my mother tongue which was a bit hard cause I wasn’t so fluent with prayers in it.

I was being actively pursued to join the order of nuns who ran my school by gifting me prizes after every exam I aced. Haha But I never really felt the calling for religious life. I always wanted to be a surgeon from as long as I can remember.

For me Jesus was an abstract concept of faith , I would pray at the school Chapel near the blessed sacrament every morning with full faith and knew I would ace every exam once I let the same at the feet of Jesus.

The Son of Man was always part of my life as a child and christmas season was always special… I waited with bated breath for it cause of winter and more over the entire area would light up houses and trees and the feeling of His coming… that same feeling is coming back now again!

The son of man flashes his presence like a stroke of lightening in our lives and in our faith.. may we acknowledge the presence of his power and push through this journey of life! May each us find that child like faith and innocence and work hard towards our eternal life to strive to lead good lives every day and not like flashes of lightening ! ‘

AMEN

In today’s world our faith can be trampled, scorched and choked out. Keep the faith and thank you always for your contributions to our Catholic Moments. Peace with you my sister.
