A new month has begun and like always I swipe out my planner and start scheduling my to do list and habit trackers. The one habit that has been lagging most is prayer.

I have been trying to schedule it in but Iam either busy with rushing to work or doing work related stuff or managing home stuff . While I have only one person to look after that is myself… I should be having more time and discipline for the same. But like a lazy human I avoid it.

Todays reading made me realise how I can’t pour into my cup when I am empty with no time for the creator in my schedule. So this month I want to take an extra 10minutes to pray and focus on the scripture.. seek some alone time to meditate and delve into my life and how I have been leading it.

Maybe we all should get new wineskins over our hearts and focus on resetting our prayer lives with more time and reflection and emulating it as catholics in our daily lives.

AMEN

  1. Analise, Thank you for your raw and barebones admission of being ‘too busy’! I’m fortunate enough to be retired now, but when I was working… Making it to Sun. Mass seamed hard enough sometimes. I often tell myself, “If only I knew then what I know now, things would’ve been different. Alas, the world continues to be busier and more worrisome. WE NEED to pray!! Just stop, wherever we are, whenever we are and pray. God IS listening. May God’s love be yours.

  2. I really appreciate your contributions to ‘a Catholic moment’ as it relates to a working individual. Thank you for the honest advice! Be blessed!

  3. Thank you Analise for the reminder to take time and spend it in prayer! Being a retiree I have no excuse. It catches up with me when I realize I’m lacking in my prayer time. It’s like someone is tapping me on the back and waking me up and saying “I’m with you never forget!” Carry on! 🙏🏼

  4. Your reflections are often ‘reflective’ of my own admissions…not taking the time to pray and honor God as I should. We need to stop, breathe, and give thanks throughout our days-because, even in the midst of our crazy busy lives, we have so very much for which to be thankful.
    Thank you for gentle reminders…
    God’s Blessings

  5. Hello Analise. As always, thanks for taking the time to write your reflection. Taking time to “go to your inner room” to pray, giving your full attention to God is important for our lives in Christ. But I believe conversing with our Lord throughout the day via “rinky-dink” prayer (i.e. Jesus, please help me get to church on time) is fruitful too. I also like to “give God a nod” at times, thanking Him for an unexpected grace or blessing. I believe that staying in contact with God, keeps us close to God.
    Peace
