The devil had already induced Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot, to hand him over.

Judas got up after receiving the bread and wine from Jesus and left. We dont hear about Judas until he gets the soldiers to Jesus in the Garden when being arrested!!

So just imagine , witnessing first hand the transubstantiation and just walking out, and doing what the devil tells Judas to do! Seems shocking to us if we ponder, but to be honest , we all do it at every mass we attend! I have tried my best to leave after the priest leaves, however on occasion due to time and work commitments, I am often chasing for the door after the receiving Holy communion.

Imagine someone making us a meal so sacred and perfect , and we chose to walk away right after – no explanation ! Why? What can be greater than witnessing the miracle ? I know it is hard often and I should never be the one to preach with my track record. While I havent abstained this Lent and in fact even missed some Sunday masses cause I am just too busy at work or caught up with other commitments.

It is indeed time, to not think of holy week obligations only cause the church says so but to genuinely participate in the final supper with the Lord every time we attend mass, but instead be more mindful of the time we spend during mass and focus on obtaining the maximum! Let us not be a Judas in the year to come and focus on being a better disciple and be humble and honest!

PRAYER: Thank you lord for this Lenten season. I am grateful for the love and mercy you pour at me from the cross. bless everyone who read this article and may peace always be with you!Amen!

  3. Dear Analise,
I use to sometimes leave mass after communion as a younger man. What is such an emergency that couldn’t wait 5 more minutes or until the final blessing?
I’m going to tell Mom and Dad! Perhaps they’ll put a stop to that. lol
To many times in my life I felt satan go into me and after he’s done with me I feel remorseful. Or perhaps say, I’m weak to the flesh.
satan is powerful and is real. I would say “never underestimate him without God’s intervention on your behalf”.
God bless you Annalise. Have a wonderful Easter season. And thank you for your continued writing here at ACM.
You know, you’re commitment to writing here every week may be your saving grace.

  4. Thank you Analise.A wonderful reminder of the great gift we receive in Holy Communion. As a cradle Catholic I often take it for granted.Great advice from Skip too.Satan is real.Give us the grace Lord, to turn to you always and away from sin.

  5. As a volunteer firefighter, I occasionally missed Mass because of being called to duty. God understands this and is grateful for the assistance we lend to others in need. Intentionally missing Mass is sinful, but missing it to answer someone’s plea for help isn’t. Analise, be at peace with yourself over those times that you miss Mass because you are doing God’s work for His people.
