Sundays were always big days in my family. My Dad insisted that we are at Church on time and insisted that we should go straight home after Mass. My Mom would cook a big breakfast for our family of for and my Grandfather and Grandmother who lived with us. That was a major meal for six people. my Mother really worked hard to prepare meals for this huge family.
I never knew that people actually socialized after Mass with coffee and donuts until I was an adult on my own. What a concept!
Our mission on earth is through word and deed to spread His message. I am not sure I do that all the time. So the question I have from these readings today is. How do I improve on my delivery?
Anyways, how does Christ message get to people who don’t fully understand Him? People may know of Him, but do they see what Christ has done for me and want to know Him better because of that ?
My wife, Anna, and I received a spam phone call this week. The representative said that he was from the FBI and that our Social Security Number was about to be cancelled. We had to speak to the federal agent right now to prevent this from happening.
We both started to laugh. We couldn’t believe that scams like this still existed. They do. The dishonest people on the other end are hoping to catch someone off their guard.
We of course did not respond. We knew it was a dishonest person who are trying to take advantage of someone vulnerable. They pray on the elderly and stressed out people of the world.
Saint Paul quotes Isaiah Those who have never beeen told of him shall see, and those who have never heard of him shall understand. He concludes in our first reading that we are guided by the Holy Spirit.
Now I am not sure if it is the result of the Holy Spirit or reason that we didn’t responded to the phone call. However, Saint Paul says that the third person of the Blessed Trinity is a resource we need to use for our spiritual benefit in reading scripture and protecting our resouces. My wife calls it a sixth sense. We received the Holy Spirit at Baptism. We need to listen to the call of the Spirit in us. This is our witness to the world.
