Thursday, 28th January 2021 – More or Less…

I am in a part of India, notorious for communalism and hate towards minority religions. While trains packed with them were burned and minority community women raped, the government turned a blind eye and the Supreme court acquitted almost everyone accused! So while I was skeptical my new surgical training involved the season of Lent and Easter, how would I find a church nearby and was thankful for online mass streaming.

So imagine my surprise when I walk into the operation theatre for my first case to only realise the scrub nurse is a devout catholic and belongs to a nearby church. As I spoke to her about how I could attend the holy week celebrations, she volunteered to take me there herself!! I was thankful, and in tears at His abundance of angels all across. Soon enough I met another nurse who is a protestant but volunteered information about all the catholic churches around the area and even designated a worker at the hospital to direct me there!

A lamp to my feet is your word,
a light to my path

While I look and seek for few moments of His wisdom in my hectic schedule, I notice how kind He is by helping me benefit, with small miracles every day and bumping me into people from different backgrounds and realities. While I lived in a bubble of a happy family and faithful living, my travels and learning have let me look at everyone with far less judgment and accept everyone around me as a child of God with something to offer, from the aged janitor to the lady who washes my clothes , the old man who cooks my meals and my short tempered teacher… I just realise how blessed I am everyday to live in finding such variety of personalities and still find Him smiling on me! I ensure to smile every morning and thank everyone personally for the contribution they have to my effort of learning!

Let us all not lose hope in the troubles and pettiness of our day and look and seek God in the few minutes we have by treating every human as a believer and spread Gods love more or less!

PRAYER:

Help and guide me oh Lord as I stand before you in a new place of my life! Help me place before you the good and the bad of each day.

Bless everyone reading this too!

Amen

  5. Dear dr Analise I thank God for you and your gift of sharing and wisdom . I lost a dear friend dinaz last year who was from India. And then the Lord blessed me with you. 6. Dear Dr. A,
You say you’re in a part of India that: “While trains packed with them were burned and minority community women raped, the government turned a blind eye and the Supreme court acquitted almost everyone accused!
How come I haven’t heard of these abominations? Who are doing these things? Are Christians free game over there?
I’m guessing you could be targeted anytime? I thought India was more civilized than that.
    God bless and protect you.

  7. Thank you Analise. It reminds me off a what Damian Stayne refers to in his book “Lord, Renew Your Wonders” about counting up the virtues of others. It leads to a deep sense of gratitude and joy for God’s mercy and the merciful love of those around us.
    Peace and harmony……….

  8. Analise, you are the light of God’s love in the world – to us and all your neighbors and co-workers in India. What an amazing country India is – with an incredible history and culture. May God help us and give us the grace to be His light and love in the world. May He live in our hearts while we live in this world.

  9. this has been a decade ago and the same officials run the country now! the minority include all religions other than Hinduism in India… Christians as of now seem safe and free to practise the faith…. it is nice to have comfort of Christian community around in nurses and I ensure they know I am a catholic too.. thank you !!

  10. Your prayer: “…as I stand before You in a new place of my life.” We are in process of buying a new home and have encountered some difficulties. But so far God has guided us through, and the prospects are bright. We are standing on His promise of care and protection as we stand in this new place in our lives. Thank you for bringing this realization to me.
